No, I'm sure the spacing between the terminals is the same but the 2016 cells have an extra row of terminals that are not used that need covered.

What do You mean by not used?

The 2016 82AH module is basically 2 individual modules of 2S2P together in one enclosure.

You still need to connect them in series to use them, the main difference is that they cannot be doubled for a 164AH set since You can not align 2 positive terminals together to parallel the modules.

You cannot use the last set of terminals or last 2 cells how ever you want to look at it. You would go over the 60v limit. I can't see running the last 2 cells in parallel working out but maybe. They would drain half as fast as the others?

I'm setup the same as e36 I think you drew this up for him? Maybe my words are misleading.

... row, column, semantics :-P I see now You meant half of the last module is not used

I believe the 40kwh modules are 0.9mm thicker than the previous modules.

To clear up confusion, there are 3 (four if you include the modules that were recalled and replaced under warranty) used by the leaf.

gen 1 (called the tuna fish cans) These were the 2011/2012 model year batteries. This version had very early packs replaced by Nissan due to some issue that caused lower than expected energy capacity. So it could be split into 2 different generations.

gen 2 (the ones with the spacers required for assembly) 2013/2014/2015 model year batteries

gen 3 (the double modules, 82ah) some model year 2016/all 2017/all 2018

I assume the terminal spacing on each module is the same, but I don't know if the module thickness between gen 1 and gen 2 is different. There is the issue of gen 2 to gen 3 with the extra "unused module" coming along for the ride.

I noticed Thingiverse has a few different versions of this file. I am going to try to make a 14s2p version
