Default Monitor location and charger wiring

Hey, I know this is opinion based, but just checking to see your thoughts on EVMS monitor location. I'm not sure what all it shows, and how often it should be seen. Wasn't sure if it needed to be on the dash somewhere or tucked under the seat by the batteries.

Also, my Elcon Charger has what looks two can bus cables coming into one of the gray plastic connectors. Each "can bus cable" has two wires connected into the clip. Am I expected to use both of those to tap into one can bus wire for the EVMS? Hopefully that made sense. If not I can take a picture and load it.

Thanks

Take pics I think they started including a premade cable now. Most of us who have had the chargers awhile didnt get this cable.

I 3d printed a mount using the original zeva file. Ian was kind enough to share it. I modified the back of the dash mount to include a mounting clamp that will fix the monitor to the steering column. It works great and I've sold quite a few of these.

I use mine as a fuel gauge it's also nice to be able to easily see the charging status.

$20 shipped.

I like that mount! I'll PM you about that after I confirm fitment. See if this pic makes any sense. Don't pay attention to the busted up black clip; that's a whole separate problem i have to deal with. But, I'm concerned how to wire that into my EVMS. Thanks

Here is another idea for your monitor placement. Seems you have a newer version though, the plug going into my monitor does not look like yours.

Here is the finished look

Thanks for that. The picture I sent was actually of the wiring for the charger. I am still trying to figure out how to wire the can bus since there are two wires coming out of it. There are no instructions unfortunately that I can find for an Elcon UHF 1800 25-99 1.8kw charger.

Sorry for the confusion, this post was for two separate questions.

Thanks again, and still looking for answers for the charger.

Yeah, actually that's my bad. I should have realized that was your charger in the picture to go along with the plug.

I can not help you on the charger part, I have a different brand off-board charger and set up. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help.

This is the only pin out I have from the charger. I wouldnt use the power wires at first. I'm guessing that it's to power the CANbus circuit on a device string that doesn't have CANbus power already. The zeva BMS16 powers the CANbus its self so additional power isn't needed. I would try it first without the power if it doesn't work then continue to dig into it.

The only wires from this connector I'm using are CAN H, CAN L, and CAN Ground

This might help as well:http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lithi...ml#post1549327

That link is to the build thread of DaveTM when he did his lithium and zeva conversion. It is to the post where he starts discussing the charger in detail, good information to know.

He used an elcon charger, but I'm not sure if he has the same one as you. I'm sure he would offer assistance if you get a hold of him. He has offered help to many others, myself included.

In addition, that thread has LOTS of great technical information about these setups!
