Here's the latest on health issues. Reported to Rutherford hospital at 6 this morning for the implanting of a port for the chemo,etc.. The nurses and staff are the greatest and were very nice and accommodating. The anesthesia folks did a great job allowing Dr Haden to perform the operation without a hitch and without any pain. When I got back to my room there was a hot cup of coffee waiting on me. Got dressed and was wheeled out to my awaiting vehicle. The wife then proceeded to Denny's where I enjoyed Steak and Eggs for brunch (kinda hungry, nothing to eat or drink since midnight). We traveled down to CVS to pick up the prescriptions then home for another nap. I thank all of you for the thoughts and prayers.

Have not updated lately so here goes... Had my 6th chemo treatment on April 27. Felt well enough to make a beach trip on May 4-6. Had a great time, even cruised the cart one night. Came home for diagnostics this week, starting with Labs on Monday. No big surprises, levels low but not critical.Today I had a C/T scan at Rutherford Hospital. The last scan there was not good, three misses and one blow out trying to find a vein that would work. This time I flashed my Purple Power Port card, the tech immediately called the Chemo section, A few minutes later a Nurse showed up with all that was necessary to do it. This is NO way a slam against Rutherford Hospital, just letting everyone know that sometimes the right card makes a difference. Have a consultation at RIMA on Friday to review the results. Thanks to everyone for your continuing thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Guys !!! Here's an update from Friday's consultation at RIMA. Our daughter, Heather came down to accompany Deb and I to the Doctor. This is her view on the proceedings : "So, stable is good, right? No additional activity good or bad is good, right? Dad's CT scan showed that there really hasn't been any change since his last CT scan three treatments ago. He will have a consult with Dr. Roberts about whether or not he can start radiation or if he needs to continue with a different type of chemo drug to get things shrunk/more under control. He has also started shots to increase red blood cell production so that he can start another round of chemo - his red blood cells are low but not down to the critical / transfusion level. I guess not every appointment can or will be a "hurray" appointment. But, again, we will take stable!" Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks James !!! Had an appointment with Dr.Rees at RIMA this afternoon. He reviewed my progress so far and put together a plan for future treatments. He set up an appointment with Dr.Roberts to go over a plan for using radiation in this battle. Looks like I go in Monday for the "mapping", then Thursday for the first treatment. He is looking at treatments for @ 6 weeks, 5 treatments per week. I also have to go to the hospital on Thursday for a MRI. Sounds like the radiation will be easier on my body, allowing my red blood cells to recover before converting back to Chemo. Thanks for the continuing thoughts and prayers...
