ATV trade for cart
I am goimg to my local cart dealer tomorrow to talk with them about trading my 2005 Honda TRX 4x4 four-wheeler for an electric cart. They said they want my ATV because they usually don't get real good low hour trades (they are also a Honda dealer). The ATV is one of three I have and is in excellent condition with only 227 hours. I don't use it that much and keep it locked in the garage so my teenager doesn't take it to the river to raise hell on. I have been thinking about getting an electric cart since I borrowed my neighbors cart last year for hunting and loved it. I'm getting serious now about getting a cart but have to trade an ATV Anyone out there on the board interested in a trade?
I will be posting questions to the experts from what I find out from the dealer about offers, models, etc. I won't trade with them until I get some input from the experts on this board, so as not to get hosed. |

Re: ATV trade for cart
Spend a week or two advertising the quad for sale in Craigslist or in your local paper.
Also remember that if you trade it in, your only taxed on the difference between the quad & cart's value. Taking a small hit on the sale of the quad might be worth the savings in sales tax. |

Re: ATV trade for cart
Junky, tried Craigslist for a couple days but got a few bizarre responses. i think they were spammers. i haven't tried to sell local other than set it in town at a friends house along the highway. Going to see what the dealer will work with me on.

Yea, you have to have good BS radar to advertise on CL these days.
Good luck! |

Re: ATV trade for cart
I agree Mike. Something else to think about...if you think it would be better to sell it local (CL) for more then the dealer may give you for it now is the time to have patience there is fixing to be a bunch of tax refunds burning holes in peoples pockets !

Re: ATV trade for cart
I just got back from the cart dealer. They sell Yamaha's. One quote I got from them was on a 2007 G22E. They would install a Jakes 5" lift, 22"x11"-10 All Trail tires, rear seat kit, and black rims. At first they shot me a trade value of $2,400 for my Honda ATV but later got better on that and they upped it to $3,000. It is a real nice ATV with very little use and no abuse. They wanted $1,000 difference.
The second option was a 2001 G16 with similar upgrade package and a new set of Trojan batteries. They would trade for $500. I understand they need to make money on the ATV resale. If I was to sell it outright I would want more than $3,000. Comments/suggestions welcome. |

Re: ATV trade for cart
The problem in selling used ATV's is that you cannot give the buyer 0% financing like they can get on a new one. You need to decide this on your own. Do you want to mess with all the hassles / spam emails from CR, or just drop the bomb and go get your new cart? Either cart sounds fair to me...

Re: ATV trade for cart
I of course usually think new is much better. 2001 versus 2007 is there that much difference? I'm looking for a farm cart to get around hunting, fishing, wood cutting, and fencing. They had some real nice looking Star cart set-ups but thought that would be like buying an Escalade to do farm work with.

Re: ATV trade for cart
For what you want, consider a gas cart, especially Yamaha
