Default Rapid Response Clutch: Pros vs. Cons?

I lookin to purchase a new clutch for my big block. I been on this forum for a little while and everyone talks about the Comet 780 and the 94c. Nobody mentions the Rapid Response clutch (the one CPP offers).

Just wanted some input on what might be good or bad with that clutch?

My crankshaft is 1 1/8" diameter. So I think I limited in my choices?

Its by far a better clutch than the 780, the 94c shouldn't even be considered in the same class. The roller is more expensive that's probly the main reason you don't see it as much. You'll have clearance issues when using the team clutch with a Club car. Ezgo's will be fine...not sure about yamahas

It depends on your budget and your use. For most, the 94c is a good clutch. The 780 might be a little smoother. But if you have big hp then you might need a larger clutch like the Team Industries Rapid Response. The reason I didn't go with that clutch is the size issue, it sticks out farther from the engine and would contact my frame. Maybe that's why you don't see a lot of them. For an EZGO TXT I think it would be ok. Those clutches are known to handle more power.

Ok. So size may be an issue. I do have an EZGO TXT, but i will do some measuring. Also, i know price is higher.

So when you say "smooth", are you meaning when the clutch engages between shifts?......basically not a sudden jerk???

Is the 780 or the 94c available for an 1 1/8" shaft?

Is a "roller" clutch better than say a "puck" style? And why or why not?

The 94c is available with a 1-1/8" bore x 1/4" keyway.
I have not found any disadvantage to the puck-style 94c, in a cart application, unless it is set up improperly. It shifts how I want it to and is extremely smooth, even with a supercharger.

Nice! Thank you for your input.

Have you had any durability issues with your 94c? Can dirt, water, mud really hurt it?

I've had it submerged in mud and it still worked great. Some belt slippage, but never a clutch failure. When that happens, it's gone.
If I can't grenade it with the supercharger, you don't have a chance in ruining it...
This run sucked in enough crap to take out the rings...
