Vanguard on Natural Gas
Is there anyone out there running their vanguard on natural gas.

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
Not really sure there is a benefit there for a golf cart. I've heard propane runs cleaner and the oil will last longer, but that's it. Cost evens out if you can buy in bulk only. If you use 20lb cylinders it's more expensive that gasoline. We tried that with our landscape equipment once. Resale is also difficult because most people don't want a machine with an explosive pressurized tank sitting behind them. The machines did run quieter and cleaner, but that was the only benefits that we saw.

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
if you could get ahold of a generator that already had the natural gas regulator on it it might be worth it.
if I happen to have all the necessary parts laying around I'd probably give it a try. but that's not very likely |

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
A Vanguard that runs on natural gas will run hotter, and about 20% diminished power than one that runs on gasoline. The one in the first link you posted has a natural gas regulator, and a regular fuel pump plumbed to the carb. Not sure what's up with that.

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
ive got a propane one sitting here im not sure what to do with it yet , convert it to gas or get crazy and get one of those forklift tanks, i have easy access to those with the gas company out back of the house here, though it seems like a lot more trouble than its worth , ezgo actually built some carts that run only on propane. that motor on ebay is actually a duel fuel gas or propane engine , see the fuel pump. rare bird there

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
As Don said, it will run hotter, have less power, and will burn more fuel dollar for dollar. No choke is required for startup with propane. I have run two different dual fuel engines and with both I ended up running straight gasoline.

Re: Vanguard on Natural Gas
Have one that runs 24/7 on our gas well as a compressor. it runs off natrual gas theres just a line going in to the carb and they regulate it with a valve.
