Tom discontinued the FD501 16hp kit, but the engine is still available from Kawasaki.

Club Car caught on in 1984 that Kawasaki was the way to go, the others still haven't realized it.

Why are you talking like Roady?
HURRY UP WITH THAT LIMO!!! I'd say that Club Car's one mistake is going to those stupid CW engines in 1997. Last edited by NO NO NO E-Z-GO!; 06-21-2007 at 10:08 PM. Reason: CRS Syndrome |

Dang, I paid 1300 for my Briggs 21. Hmmm... I did save on not having to buy another clutch though or any kind of machining to get it in. You might have to do this to get it to fit. (below) Good Luck!!

What is SO hard to understand about this concept. Perhaps I shall explain it again. Yamaha and E-Z-GO rear ends input shaft is on the driver side of the cart, but it takes a CCW rotation. E-Z-GO and Yamaha engines DO rotate counterclockwise looking at the clutch, but Yamaha engines are completely backwards except for the rotation. E-Z-GO engines are vertical instead of offset to a degree, so they don't really apply. But Yamaha engines (we'll just use the 301 for example) have the cylinder going out the wrong side of the block. Looking at the clutch, it goes like \ whereas any other small engine goes | or /. The 301 even has the intake on the exhaust side and exhaust on the intake side. "IF" you were to use that engine in a Club Car, you would need the crank on the other side of the engine, and to have the correct intake and exhaust patterns, but most of all, the crank coming out the correct side of the engine would be turning CLOCKWISE. But since Yamahas are exempt from any concept that makes sense, we'll just look past it. The 1997+ Club Car FE290s are the EXACT same engine as they always have been, except they rotate clockwise for the new rear ends. This engine is of a normal orientation and not skewed. If I can't convince you with words, go start up a power washer or something and look at which way the crank turns on it. Then go find a 1996 or older Club Car and look. WOW! They both go the right way! Now you can go look at a 4 stroke E-Z-GO and 4 stroke Yamaha, and you'll notice they also turn that way. But notice the Yamaha engine orientation while you're under the seat. I swear, that is the last time I'm explaining that. Quote:
