Different carbs for Vtwin performance
Just trying to do some research about different carburetor options for the Vtwins. I have seen the 2 barrel setups, and I like that they are stock setups on the bigger engines. But I'm wondering if anyone has ever used a motorcycle style carb for these? I've seen some of those mud boat motors using them, but not sure what size they are. Any ideas?
I have a 32 mm cv type carb I was using on the clone, wondering if it would work or not? Obviously it's bigger than the stock carb so it should be better right? What adapters are available? Edit: it's a 32mm not a 30mm |

Re: Different carbs for Vtwin performance
Andy,
The mud buggies use really big carbs on the highly modified motors. I think some are running twin 38mm carbs. A stock Briggs 2 barrel has two 21mm venturis. It will flow much more than the single 30mm you have. |

Re: Different carbs for Vtwin performance
Ok understood. Is it even worth trying to make this carb work? Or would the cost getting the parts outweigh the benefits? For all I know that carb I have is junk, but if it won't cost a lot it might be worth a try.

It'll be better than the stock single carb, but not as good as the 2-barrel.
Now if you ran dual 30mm???? |

Wow! Dual carbs? Sheesh!
So what kind of parts would I need to try this? Would I have to switch to the 2bbl intake anyway? Or is there an adapter of some sort? |

There is an adapter for mounting the Mikuni directly to each head.

Re: Different carbs for Vtwin performance
Ok well I don't want two carbs.
Are there adapters for one? |

Re: Different carbs for Vtwin performance
I've see a single carb mounted on a mudbuggy motor. I don't know if the adapter mounts to the stock intake, or replaces the intake.

Re: Different carbs for Vtwin performance
I'm searching now, see lots of twin carbs, but no singles. Wonder if I could make an adapter to replace the carb I have now? Do you know what size the 16hp intake is?

You mean the hole in the top of the intake?
