The Predator Vtwin is a good engine if you want to keep it stock. You'll have to make an engine mount, unless the bolt pattern matches the single cylinder clones.

Just be aware that the hardware is not all developed for that engine yet so clutch, exhaust, electrical etc, is all going to have to be fabbed by you. Another option uses the vegascarts 460 or other clone and now all the systems on it are pretty much worked out except the LOUD exhaust.I pulled out my g14 engine and had the vegascarts 460 in and running in a weekend. I used their kit with an assembled engine.I would buy the ARC rod and torque camshaft version. That 460 puts out at least twice the power you have now with 5000rpms plus ability.Other members have used the vtwin and may weigh in on what exactly is needed to do it.

there is only one real answer to this question and it doe not involve a single cylinder engine unless your going to use plowmans (site sponsor) setup which i would recomend looking into , you plan on street driving with the family some of his mods should be sufficent for what you are trying to acomplish . if you want to upgrade , i would avoid the harbor freight engine at this time and go with a honda or briggs vanguard , this gets into more money and some minor fabrication but in the end you will have more power that you should ever need

Don't have to fab a clutch. Any 1" clutch will fit, provided you get the 1" crankshaft model.

Exhaust, well, just use the stock muffler that comes with it. It will be good for starters, and if you keep the engine stock you won't need anything larger.

Wiring? Three wires to hook up. Coil shutoff wire, charge wire, and starter wire. All of the wiring can be wired to a universal lawn tractor key switch that costs $20 or less.

The engine mount is the only thing that will have to be fabricated. A big block mount might work, you'll need to check the bolt spacing.

The clones "torque" is no match for a big Vtwin engine. The clones have superior mid range and top end power though. If you want to wind it out, get a clone. If you want to peel the tires, get the Vtwin.

This man knows! I got a 16hp Vanguard from him. It replaced a built VC440. In stock form, the torque blows away the clone, hands down! With some mods, it will rev as high as the 440, but I'm not there yet. To be honest, right now the engine is more than I ever needed/wanted.

First off, is your g2 engine in good enough shape to modify? Secondly if you use any vtwin your pedal start and S/G cannot be used.Despite what the vanguard guard lovers above say, if you do not use a kit there is a LOT of fab work involved. Just look in this big block section at all the problems others have encountered.I am not saying don't do it but go into it with your eyes open. The CPP kit is around $2300.Look at CPP, look at plowmans, look at vegascarts.LOOK at what each will cost.Do your research. How much labor are you willing to do? Make an informed decision. On the island here we use carts like cars. With the modified g14 engine which had a plowmans exhaust, rejetted carb with K&N filter along with a zip tied governor. With 4 adults aboard the performance was ok.With the vegascarts engine in there it flies!IF you are looking for bang for the buck, keeping your pedal start look elsewhere from the vtwins.

Can't pedal start be accomplished with a relay and stock starter/gen?

Yes, and a drive pulley on the primary clutch. Available real-estate is the biggest issue.

I guess if you can find the room for a supercharger why not a S/G.I also seen a golf cart with a helicopter turbine engine on youtube which shows you can fab up anything. My only point was if you don't want to spend time custom fitting in an engine what the cost are .The thing I fail to understand is why some members opposed vegascarts who have made an affordable engine swap so easy.
