Loudness
Don't have a big block but may one day. It's premature for me to really get into this forum but my curiosity is peaking on this one thing..
How do these big block engines compare in noise level to the 11.5hp stock Kawasaki's in the club car. I don't expect a decibel rating or anything, but a simple "way louder", or "bout the same" or "sounds like an electric" would do. Although I know that latter is impossible...you get the idea I hope. Mostly I read about the Honda's, the Vanguards, Briggs, and Clones (whatever that is) on this forum. If I ever do a big block swap, the noise level will be a deciding factor. Thanks way in advance, CM |

Re: Loudness
They're louder, some more than others. Mine isn't that much louder than a garden tractor, until you really crack the gas. Come to CAW in May--there will be several BB carts there...

Re: Loudness
If you don't want a lot of noise definitely stay away from the clones as they are harder to quiet down. The twins will have a deeper tone ( not as obnoxious as the clones). But it's all going to depend on how you have the exhaust set up.

Re: Loudness
I run a Zemco exhaust on my Honda GX630 big block swap and I find that it is very quiet and some might even wish it was louder, but I personally like hearing my stereo system

Re: Loudness
I'm not sure how well this muffler would quiet an engine down as it's used on Mini sand buggies. I'd like to give one a try so may order one as the price isn't too bad. Not much lost if it's too loud.
It's an 18" tuneable super trapp style muffler/spark arrestor and comes with a stack of spark arresting discs. The inlet is 2" and outlet is 4" I don't right to come right out and list the seller as they aren't a sponsor and I also don't have any experience with the seller or product. |

Re: Loudness
The big block has a nice rumble, and its not to loud unless you are trying to make it loud, mine is a 95 club car ds. Never had a cart before until 3 weeks ago, I had a mechanic find a cart and gut it. The guys in Chapin at Chapin custom carts can do it if you insist. They didn't do mine, but I did have them tweak some things. If I had it to do over again I would have had them do it. I'm over in Irmo so they are real close, but I used to live in Lexington (4 months ago), and it can't be more than 30 minutes to get there.
