Default G2 secondary clutch settings?

I'm looking to tune my clutches in on my Briggs Vanguard swap. I am using a 780 comet for the primary and have the stock G2 secondary clutch. What are you guys using for the preload on the secondary? I currently have it set on B2 but it feels like it's a little to soft like is shifting to soon. Does anyone know what the preload was from the factory? So for you guys using a V-twin or clone and a yamaha rear end what settings are you using? Thanks.

I think B2 was the factory golf cart setting, seems I read that here somewhere. On the G2 clutch, how many settings are there? 3?

Gary, how loose is your belt set? I set mine up so it's just loose enough to sit an idle while it's in gear, but by doing that it has a more jerky take off. Just wondered how you have yours setup?

Four settings on the helix 1,2,3,4 and three on the sheave A,B,C. The belt is not real loose. Putting it in gear at idle is no problem. I originally had the G1 spring in the secondary. I think I may switch it back. I am using an EZGO belt that is 1 1/8 wide not the 1 3/16 that yamaha uses. How much of an effect do you think that has on it?

I think B2 is the factory setting but I would tighten it up. I set mine tighter one or two steps with a clone and think it is not enough. If you look at the ramp you can figure out the numbers. When you change hole it sets the ramp back more degrees, after you use those then change the other end to get to the next set of holes that turn it back more. When you put it on and wind it back to the ramp you get X degrees preload the holes dictate. If you look at the ramp positions just holding it there you can see the changes. I have a new stock spring in it, I have a umax if I need it but trying to get it to shift out at low throttle and its not wanting to with the 94c.

Note the secondary should mostly only affect it at part throttle and not at WOT. So if your WOT is too low you need to change the primary setup. Winding the secondary will raise rpm anything less than WOT, but not change WOT rpm much. Winding more will make it rev faster when you punch it and stay at more revs when you let off.

You will benefit from switching the belt to the 1 3/16" width. More low end. Also, I agree about the clutch setting. You'll have to play with that. I doubt you'll "need" a heavier spring. Maybe just a new stock spring would be a better choice. Going heavier will keep it from shifting. I tried mine with the Plowman's spring and wasn't fond of that. The heavier springs do well with underpowered engines, not with the big vtwin/clones.

B-3 and a new stock spring worked well for me. The spring will "compress" with age.

I think I'm going to try the B-3 setting with my current spring. Thanks

I know you are using the stock G1 spring with the plowmans secondary. Could the G1 spring in my stock secondary prevent it from shifting out completely?
