g9 engine mounts
2/4 of the stock rubber/bolt engine bracket mounts on my g9 are toast, and at $22 a piece i'm looking for alternatives. I'm doing a big block swap, I plan on using the stock engine mounts to make my clone mount. I was wondering if anyone has tried directly bolting the stock mounting brackets to the frame? I haven't made my clone mount yet because of the broken rubber mounts. If I did directly bolt those mounts to the frame, then the engine to the mounts, will the vibration be through the frame be too much? I also order 4 vibration damping engine mounts from mcmaster that i was considering putting between the engine and its mount, or between the stock engine mounts and the frame.
any advice is appreciated. |

Re: g9 engine mounts
Most kits take them out, some people complain some don't. I left mine in and its very close to stock I only feel any vibration when hammering the gas and then more than stock but not that much really. I did have to make a solid tensioner bolt. I would find alternative mounts, or make some from hockey pucks /etc., but that is just me I don't like vibration it feels cheap.....If I wanted that I would not be riding a golf cart lol. Then again I don't know how much they vibrate, it has to go through the cradle and into the frame before you would feel it.

Re: g9 engine mounts
When I mounted the 8hp Briggs in my cart I mounted it rigid and it vibrated, but not really that bad.
Now I've got the 25hp Kawasaki in my cart and it's also rigid. But from what I've heard, with a V-twin the vibration is minimal. Plus with it mounted rigid I don't have rubber mounts that break to replace. I did find that on the G2 I removed the engine from for my next build had two of the rubber mounts broken. And not really cheap too replace. |

Re: g9 engine mounts
The Vanguard has much less vibration than a clone single. You won't even notice it.
If I had a Vanny that vibrated that bad, I'd melt it down and use it to forge a clone block. |

Re: g9 engine mounts
I kept them and added a tension bracket on my clone swap.Geez they use rubber motor mounts on even 12 cylinder cars for a reason.Harley started mounting their vtwins with rubber mounts after about 1983.

Re: g9 engine mounts
The old CC engine mounts are really simple like a stud with a rubber center. Have no idea how much they are but the engine just sits on them, very simple. Circa 1993.

Re: g9 engine mounts
Has anyone ever looked to see how a v-twin is mounted in a garden tractor?
