Default opposed twin

I have a 18 briggs v twin in a g14 now. I have the opportunity to get a 25 horse from a Ingersoll garden tractor opposed cylinders. What do u all think worth the trade or stick with briggs. Not sure of the brand of other motor but its in a good name tractor so has to b a good one. I also like more torque rather than speed thanks

I'd say that since you have yours going already, and if your happy with it........ I'd stick with what you have. No matter how everything fits you'll spend money changing over.

Could be a Briggs, Onan, or a Kohler magnum. The opposed do make lots of torque, but rev slowly and don't like rpm. Drive you current engine for a week or two at no more than 3200 rpm and see if you could deal with it.

You may have to change your clutching to get full power with them as most golf cart engines seem to run 3500-4000rpm at wot. Even a stock vanguard can be moving out of the power there depending on where your clutch is at. I agree most opposed have a great midrange and little else, very smooth. I have an onan in equipment and its got power everywhere except high rpm. Note Onan can be a problem to get parts for.
