Default Replacement air filter housing?

I'm looking for a way to protect this open air element from dust and dirt. Or a completely new set up. The set up I have now is clogging up to quick. When I hammer the gas it bogs down bad. If I remove the cleaner then it runs like a champ. I think the filter is to open for my daily driven dusty roads. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hmmmm. After looking at it, is this filter set up to small for the needs of the motor?

What filter, what cart/engine? I put a clone in and used an airbox out of a car. Then I ran 2" pvc to the front of the cart for some clean air to it. Never have changed the filter since I put it in, and those cavalier filters are $7 lol.

Go with a totally enclosed canister system. You won't ever have to worry about air contamination. You can feed the PCV back into the air intake line also.

Thanks for the ideas. What do you guys think about a prefilter? Good or bad? How bad does it restrict flow?

Take a regular sock and cut it to fit for a pre filter.

Then you need to come up with a way to get around that. I smoked my first Vanguard because of dirty/muddy/watery air. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Take my advice for what you think it's worth...
An open air filter will kill the motor in very short order.
A pre-filter will help very little bit, for a very short time. As soon as it starts plugging up, performance will suffer.

Totally enclosed is the way to go if you want to just forget about it.
The PCV must be totally enclosed also.

The quickest way to kill the motor is to allow the open filter to get wet. Totally enclosed cures that.
