Thanks for your replies..I have a few questions..
How much faster is the 23hp big block over the stock motor
Is there a 30 to 35 hp big block that bolts in with a kit?

The 23 will rev much higher than the stock engine, so top speed will be greater. When my cart was stock, with the cart governor bypassed, top speed was maybe 30, on 22" tires. I've had the 23 up to 36-37 (pucker factor), and had more RPM's left. I've got 23" tires now and I'm sure top speed will be higher still, but I'm not going there.

The V-Twin is all about torque, and the 23 has plenty.

The larger block Vanguards may be a tight fit. They're a large engine. The 23, or the 18 for that matter, can be modified for more HP.

When talking top speed in a golf cart it's all about engine RPMs, tire size and clutching. If your stock engine and twin are both turning 4500 RPMs then they are both equally as fast. The difference is that the twin will get there MUCH quicker and have a TON more torque.

The difference between the two will be night and day.

Depends on what you want, the vanguard is the best if you want to mod it for more rpm or hp. You can use others like the kawasaki vtwin, the subaru, kohler, clone, etc. but some you can't modify at all, some you don't even want to run it above the stock governor speed. Some you can adjust it up a little. You can put one in and put HS gears in, then it will be fast for sure, the twin (stock) will pull HS gears no problem. Another guy on here just saw 48gps with his modded vanguard and stock gears, though he does have larger tires like 25s or something I'd have to look. It was at 6K rpm though, stock is about 3600. But I don't know if any have kits other than the vanguards. That said they are similar it is likely drilling holes would fit another vtwin anyway. A larger engine will give more power, but speed will be the same because all the lawn type engines run the same rpm stock....unless you put HS gears in your cart. People that cruise roads like HS gears because they keep the rpm down at speed, people that trail ride usually don't because stock gears give more power for offroad stuff and they rarely can go that fast on a trail to need big gears. You can go with larger tires like 25 or more to gain some gearing, though some lifts will not fit them make sure you find out. You can also go with an atv engine/etc, but there is no kits for those swaps.

Yeah, it was real clean when I did the install in 2012. I get the cart dirty, but it cleans up well. It's not a trailer queen.

I use my drag car to pull my race car to the pits so torque of the bigger motor will work great..I figured that if your going to do a conversation put the biggest engine that will fit with whoever bolt in kit..is the a 30 to 35 hp engine that bolts in?
