cayuna 440cc
Is it possibe to put a cayuna 440cc motor in a golf cart and if so do u need to start with a gas powered golf cart or can u convert an electric cart. I am wanting to build a golf cart and have that motor laying around. I also have a yamaha 100cc go cart motor that i could use if it would be better. what kind of modifications and money is involved in one of the swaps.
thanks for your help danny |

Re: cayuna 440cc
Is it possible? Yes
Would I do it? No - Why? 1 - Converting an electric to gas also will cost you a rear end / tranny, foot controls, fabrication time, clutches, etc. Just go buy a used gas and save your time and money (unless, of course, you are a master fabticator with endless amounts of time and tools). 2 - Old 2 stroke engines ran in 2 different engine rotations. Do an engine swap you will only have forward OR reverse. |

Re: cayuna 440cc
thanks for the reply, if i buy a old gas cart then would the engine work, because they have transmissions or would i still only have forward or reverse with that motor

Re: cayuna 440cc
As long as the cart (gasser) has a transmission that actually shifts from forward to reverse, then "yes", it could work.

Re: cayuna 440cc
search on here and buggiesunlimited.com for examples of other guys who have done it. at least 5 carts have been documented in the last 12 months
I would some of the build threads to get a idea of the amount of work needed. Doing it yourself saves money but takes time. especially when you start talking odd ball motors |
