G9 2nd big block build
I rescued a g9 today from a bone yard. It's a great swap candidate. Motor had already been removed and I stripped the electrical components, and the steel bed to knock the price down. This fellow makes his money off of parts alone for the most part, so it worked out pretty good for me. It has been sun baked and oxidized but it cleaned up pretty nice. It is missing the fuel door and gas cap unfortunately. It seems crazy, I know, since I really just finished my 88 marathon swap. I enjoyed it so much I decided we could always use another big block cart. 😬 Time to start planning. Who has a vanguard for sale?

I'm in northern Kentucky. I'd like to start with an 18 or 20 hp. Talk to me, what ya got?

Re: G9 2nd big block build
Looks like a great starting point. I have always liked the look of the G2/G9.
I started my marathon build the same way. With a bare carcass. |

Re: G9 2nd big block build
It's up on blocks and the rear is out. I've got a 7" all sports double a arm lift on the way. I will be working on the rear and swing arm, preparing for the vanny that I haven't found yet.

That rear cleaned up pretty well. What's the plan for the Vanny?

Re: G9 2nd big block build
Plan is to start with an 18 or 20 hp. I'm still working on some details, but I want to try a couple of different things. I'm not sure I should even talk about them until it's decided if it's possible or not. I don't want to let anybody down.

All sports lift will be here tomorrow. Still searching for a motor unfortunately, but I am gathering a few key parts, slowly but surely. It ain't for lack of trying, I can assure you.
