Default Hesitation

Hey guys I am looking for any help that I can get,my vanguard 18 is having a hesitation while accellerating,I took it out for 3 hours on Saturday and it ran very well,at the end of the day it started to hesitate or bog right after pushing down the gas pedal,it idles perfect and accellerates very roughly than runs o.k. at top speed,I changed the plugs, they were fairly dark from running at 7000 plus feet altitude and also changed the oil and filter.I don't know much about these little carbs but am guessing that something got in there or maybe fuel pump? or any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd suggest calling Tom at Cart Parts Plus (1-888-861-2640) and asking him about high-altitude jetting for it.

I do want to jet it, but it did run very well for about 5-6 hours.

Something COULD have gotten sucked into the carburetor and clogged a small passageway. I would pull the carburetor, clean all the jets, and put it back. Also, if it were me, I'd replace the fuel filter and fuel line from the filter to the carburetor. Make sure the filter fits in there nice and tightly.

My 18 hp started to do the same thing. I got a K&N air filter from Tom and that took care of it.

How long did it take before it started doing it? Did you try another stock filter? I did try it without a filter but I did not run it too long that way because it is very dusty here right now,it did run fine though without the filter.I guess a trip to Home Depot to get another stock filter will happen in the morning and I will order a k&n next week.

It will depend on how dusty it is where you ride. The stock paper filter will
clog up fast.
