We all know if it was a stock vanguard which means no rev kit what the results would be.

A stock Vanguard is far from a performance motor, and so is a stock 420 clone.

He did not say a 420 clone. He said a VC 460 clone. That is not even considering the current VC 460 comes standard with a cam and arc rod. This is slo test he can conduct it any way he wants but the deck is stacked before it starts.

In stock form both motors should be governed to approx 3600 rpm. So unless one gov is slightly higher, your top speed would be the same. Of course the twin would get there faster.

The base model vc440 or 460 is already not "stock".

Compare a base model performance shop clone to a base model performance shop twin.

Or if you want apples to apples, take a "stock" 16hp twin then bore it, stroke it, remove governor and compare to the vc460, a bored, stroked no gov clone.

You guys really make me laugh. You are all worried about what $30 rocker arms are going to do against and engine with $100 rev kit.

We get that you love your vegas clone. I like vegas carts and i like my clone, but i like my v twin more.

Stock means stock. modified is not stock. Its pretty simple.

Slo asked for input.I suggested one thing to make the test where the outcome in not predetermined.A common mod for the vanguard is the rev kit.And a common mod for the early VC clone was the 1.3 rockers. He probably has a set.

You should do it Slo. I figure the 460 will win in any speed comparo, the vanguard might do well in towing. I think if you are going to run a lawn engine with no governor for top speed, you should include a rev kit if it needs one. Unfortunately Ray is correct, you just can't do this and consider cost because its no comparison. The VC is maybe half the price and how does it not come stock? That is how he sells them. The vanny should last longer and sound cooler. Its apples and oranges however I still find it interesting. If you build up a vanny they will make the bacon, just that a lot of people never go that far or don't want to invest that much.

Even if you compare the 25hp VC460 to a 23hp vanny, the 460 is still less than half the cost. Though it seems like a 23 would have some torque over the clone.

Anyway, it could be pretty informative and help people choose what they want in their cart.
