Default Making some changes to my Vanguard

I'm on to the next phase with my Briggs Vanguard twin. This motor has been great at camp this summer. I've gotten many compliments on the way it sounds and just flat out how it has performed. So far it has billet pushrods, billet retainers, double valve springs and a timing advance key. Right now it has enough power and speed but I've decided to take it one step further. I already did a 1 tooth advance on the stock cam. Next up is a 2 bbl swap and a whole new better flowing exhaust. Everything for the 2bbl swap showed up in the mail yesterday.

I have a few questions
Is there any advantages/disadvantages in turning the carb outward?
If I turn the carb in, will I have enough room to make an adjustment on the main jet?
What to do with the breather that went to the stock carb?
I'd really like to do a separate exhaust for each cylinder and each to have its own muffler. Thoughts?
Some pics.....

Well you beat me to it!

I've never seen anyone do a true dual exhaust....sounds like a nice challenge. I doubt there will be any additional performance benefit, but it will likely sound pretty cool! Are you sure there will be enough room? How will you route the pipes, down underneath the bagwell area? Do you have a pipe bender?

I know Don has his carb facing the passenger side, he did that because of clearance underneath the seat. Plus I think there was some concern of making a 180 degree bend in the air intake....possible flow restriction/slowing? In our G1's we have lots of room above the battery for a good air filter like a K&N or Uni. I probably have enough clearance to put the filter/intake up on top because I dropped my cradle 6" or so.....not sure how yours is. But I think I'll do an intake to the side just for flow.

Glad to see you going on this! You might have to come out for a visit when I get "the test" all set up.

Ok,so does this jet on the side get removed because it will now be adjustable?

Yeah, I've been thinking about it. Medina is only about 1 hour 45 minutes from me. Not to bad. I definitely want to do that ride in Canton come spring.

Yes, remove the jet. Putting the carb towards the passenger side also helps a bit to keep the fuel charge a little cooler.

Vegascarts has a sneak peek of their long tube header for vanguards this may give you an idea on how to do the double thing.

Thanks ray. Yeah I was just looking at your thread about their Vanguard exhaust that you posted a short while back.

Make sure the O-ring on the hex nut is in good shape.
