Default Vanny exhaust question

I am making my list of things I want to improve over the winter and the exhaust is one of them, I see a lot of people are using the performance headers and mufflers, but I also see some members with alot of knowledge using the stock manifold, Is there really any benefit in the CPP or vegas carts header??? I was looking at getting the kit from robertsons torque tubes but don't want to waste the money if not needed.

I just got the stock manifold and super-low tone muffler from B&S and it fits perfect and sounds like a Harley. Just a tad louder than stock but other that that no issues.

Any motor will benefit with more flow. Have you ever removed your stock manifold? To me it looks to be pretty restrictive. Maybe not for a stock motor but with a bigger cam and/or a 2bbl it certainly could use the extra flow from a better exhaust.

The headers flow better. Stock exhaust is good too though and alot quieter. Equal length pipes on the header to the muffler has minimal advantage over the headers that cpp or Vegas has. I lucked out and found a race header with a supertrapp on it for $100 shipped.

I think it's 1" maybe 1 1/8th. Same size as the exhaust port.

Thanks guys, I am running a mostly stock motor so unless I find a good deal I might just stick with the stock manifold
