Re: standard clutch on ezgo VS comet 708 clutch
What I did was machine my stock clutch from 1''-1 1/8'' A taper to a straight 1 1/8 '' and broached in the key way, mine is working perfect.
My machinist friend said most machine shops would charge $100-$150 to do the mod I'm running the Honda GX670 Hope this helps Ed |

I am running the stock G2 clutch with a tapered adapter from Vegas carts on my 16hp V twin. It's not the best option but money was tight and it has worked fine in the mountains this summer.

Re: standard clutch on ezgo VS comet 708 clutch
I've used a stock Yamaha clutch, a 94c Duster style clutch, and a 780. The 780 wins IMHO. The stock clutches really are designed for slow and smooth starts....for the golf course....not for performance. Just sayin.

Re: standard clutch on ezgo VS comet 708 clutch
I ran the stock G9 clutch on my clone, I modded it a little, it worked ok. Really its only fault is you can't tune it much, and you can't make it engage harder or higher rpm which is nice for offroad use. Otherwise it worked fine and shifted better than the 94c I have now. The 94c I have setup to take off harder and shift at higher rpm for the mods on my clone, it works great on the trail but is not that nice at slow speed when I want to do yard work or drive under 10mph. It wants to rev up and does not need to at low speed. But the 94 is a pretty old clutch, its tried and true, but very old design made for snowmobiles and has some difficulty shifting at lower rpm lawn engines run at. When I run it at half throttle or more it works great.
