Is there a such thing as too much HP
While surfing the Briggs website I saw they released a new EFI 37 HP VTwin this year. I imagine the price is ridiculous but for those with no limits of the wallet I wonder what the capabilities are for this setup. 37 Hp, 993cc, hi rev setup from the factory at 4700 rpm. sounds like fun to me.

Actually there is such a thing as "too much power". It usually causes damage to the vehicle in some way.

Re: Is there a such thing as too much HP
Rice rocket and sled motors can be over 100hp easy, all depends on what you want. I want my G9 to run as easily as stock, 38mph may be slow but anyone can jump on and hit the pedal to go just like a stock cart. It only does about a 8" wheelie so far but I'm working on more.
They get about 60hp out of built big vanguards (31/35hp engine), there are some carts out there with them. Someplace out there is a video of Alpha carts with a wheelie bar, doing a wheelie for at least 50 yards. It was at a CAW or something. There are videos of him in the dunes on utube with the 60hp motor. |

Re: Is there a such thing as too much HP
I'm in the mind set of wanting a hunting/work cart with as much power to go where I want to and up any hill with a load without slowing down to a crawl. Doing burnouts and running 40+ mph are not high on my list of things to do in a golf cart. Not saying it wouldn't be fun to do so. I think the clone will meet this needs but I like the idea of EFI and a smooth running Vtwin. Maybe I'll find another cart to build for cruising the campgrounds.

My Vanguard accelerated up ANY hill we climbed at CAW last May. No bog whatsoever.
