16hp vs 18hp
I have a 16hp Vanguard that I bought a couple of months ago. I bought it because I couldn't find a 18hp or larger.
I haven't started the build in my '02 EzGo, but just came across a 18hp Vanguard for $500. Would you guys keep the 16 or sell it and buy the 18? Is there that much of a difference between the two to justify the sell/buy. Thanks, Joel Joel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Are you planning on modifying the motor in any way? More rpms? More power? etc... |

Thanks for the welcome. I've been here for awhile, just never posted. I'm not sure what my plans are. I use the cart at camp (5-10mph) with lots of hills, but venture farther into the Adirondacks when I'm bored. Looking for more torque and speed than the OEM engine. I don't see many used vanguards pop up in my area so that's why I'm asking. Or maybe the 16 is fine unless I see a 23? :)

$500 is a little steep for a used Vanny. Keep the 16hp and put the money toward that. |

Re: 16hp vs 18hp
If you aren't sure if you'll mod it or not, I'd go with the 16hp version. You'll enjoy gobs more torque than stock, it's relatively quiet with a stock muffler, and there are tons of parts avail to mod it if you wish later. Parts for the 18hp are harder to come by.
That 16 will still put a smile on your face!!!! |

Thanks guys. That's what I needed. I have to start this project now, maybe tomorrow. I bought the engine conversion mount from CPP and it just came in. I think I need a build thread :)

Actually I wish I had a 23hp version, but I've never come across a used one. Maybe on the next project.... |
