Default Vanguard V-Twin Help

So, I am about to pull the trigger on an 18hp v-twin Vanguard to put in my G14. The kit on Carts Plus says "some modification required" for the G14. Anyone know what this is? Hopefully someone has done this swap because I'm going to need advice...

Are you buying the motor and kit from CPP? I tried buying just the kit from them and they wouldn't sell it to me. They have some "agreement" with B&S that' won't allow them to sell just the install and upgrade kit. I just did an install on a CC and it' wasn't that bad... my motor had issues which is what made my install suck but other than that, the install isn't too hard. You may have some wiring to do but, it's not impossible.

You need a lift kit for sure. On vegascarts facebook page they show a vanguard prototype motor mount for the G2-8.It looks like the G2-14 clone mount with some drop legs bolted on.But somebody recently bought the mount only from CPP.

IIRC G14 is an odd cart built one year, its the G2-9 engine with the newer articulating cradle (and entire cart) of the G16. Maybe the new G16 engine was not ready yet, it is different setup with the exhaust in front/side instead of behind the engine like the G9. Anyone correct me if that is not right. So while the G2-9 engine mount location would be the same, the cradle and any clearances to the cart frame/body would be different. cables and such details could change also. I've worked on one but not done a swap, he would not sell it to me lol.

I have a 7" Jakes double a-arm lift on the cart already. So...you're tellin me that they won't sell me the engine cradle and stuff for my G-14? That really sucks! I saw the motor tonight and heard it run. Unfortunately it wasn't generating any power to charge the battery. The guy is a retired law mower guy and is going to fix it. It ran well and didn't smoke. It was black, not red though. Looks pretty self contained to be honest. Fuel pump on the engine, so just hook to my stock tank. Internal generator (behind flywheel I guess), when it works. But no kit w/o the engine included will definitely make it more challenging...

Yeah, I was a bit pissed I didn't get the kit from CPP but I should have done my homework first. I ended up just buying a Vegas Carts motor plate, copying it and sending it back. I don't think you'll run into anything some folks here can't walk you through.

Vinny, that's probably not something you want to mention on the forum since they are a sponsor.

This thread should really be in the Big Block section.

Here are two options for mounts......

Both are site sponsors and very helpful. Call them with any questions.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong section, feel free to move it (not sure how to do it myself). That first cradle link looks like it would work. The second one looks like it is for the VC460, not a v-twin. Thanks though!

The G14 was made in 1995-1995.I have a 1995 G14 along with one other G14 on the island here. Both of our carts have G2-9 suspension, brakes, and trans axles.I have not seen one but it is my understanding the 1996 G14's have the G16 suspension, brakes and trans axles.I actually used a vegascarts G2-9 kit for the clone on my G14.The only part that was not a direct fit was the exhaust header. In some ways the early G14 is the best of both worlds with the Beefier G2-9 transxaxle and the G16's wider seat.
