Lifan 420cc electric start with 18amp charging system
I bought an old G1 and I'm putting a lifan 420cc 15hp in it I have everything fabricated the way I want it but can't for the life of me figure out how to wire the charging system or (rectifier) up to the motor. The sad thing is I called lifan's technical support and they don't have a clue either. I'm hoping anouther member on this site will know how to do this or has done it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Lifan 420cc electric start with 18amp charging system
Do you mean hook the engine up to the factory G1 to work with the charging system on the engine or your trying to figure out how to wire the stuff from the engine into the wiring on the cart and make everything work together?
I found that with a G1 and all the extra wiring involved in the starter/generator and the two solenoids it was better to just remove every part of the original stuff and wire the entire thing up new. I installed a fuse block and a regular start (key) switch on mine. I don't have the same engine as you but wiring it is about the same. Other than that, Lifans technical staff should know how to wire their own engine so that it starts, runs, charges and can be shut off. Another thing you'll want to do is find a different rear end so that you can have reverse. The cart is usable with just forward gear but is much handier when you can back up. I've run mine both ways. |

Re: Lifan 420cc electric start with 18amp charging system
I've contacted lifan tech support 5 times they have yet to answer my question. They told me it's a newer engine so the wiring diagram they have is not compatible they would try to contact China for an answer. Why on earth would you sell an engine with the wrong wiring diagram. Well its been a week with no answer. Guess will just cross our fingers and hope for the best. And as far as rear end goes I already swapped it out. As far as the wiring all original wires have been removed I'm just trying to wire new engine up with this charging system (rectifier).

Ok, Have you looked at the wiring diagram they Lifan supplies? Are the colors different on the wires? Are the wires in different places/connect to different things on the engine? Doesn't sound like very good customer support, but I'm sure you already figured out that part.

Here is a wiring diagram I found, not sure what you already have!
Here is a link asking about it on Home depot website and there is a picture of the wires hooked where they need to be and a phone number to call where they sent the guy a picture of the wiring. Don't know if it will help you or not. Wiring! |

Smokindawd thanks for the wiring diagram I'll take a look at it and see if it's close. And yes the experience I've had with lifan's tech support has not been good at all!

Rccub23 thanks but I figured it out on my own I think lol. How has your lifan 420cc been doing? Is there alot of power and torque? I'm hoping to take mine for a test run in a day or 2. Also did you change the exhaust or keep it the way it is?
