Yamaha g2/9 swingarm drop for Predator 22hp
Anyone make a kit for dropping swingarm lower for clearance to install Predator 670 in Yamaha G2. I'm trying to keep it a street car style setup. This means fairly low and wide. Don't know if it has to be lengthened to get engine to fit. I've just started taking the measurements. Anyone have experience? Pics of tear down coming shortly.

Re: Yamaha g2/9 swingarm drop for Predator 22hp
There is another thread on here recently where someone is doing the same engine same cart. Might have to read through the most recent ones.
No kit as far as I've seen. Most fab up engine mounts. I did a big block on my G1, not the same but similar. I built a 6" drop frame for mine. Predator Vtwin is considerably larger in size though. |

Re: Yamaha g2/9 swingarm drop for Predator 22hp
I installed a 25hp Kawasaki in my G1 and the engine size is probably comparable to the Predator your talking about.
I did drop my swing arm and extend it back. I then had too lengthen the frame to recenter the wheels on the rear. I didn't measure as I should have and extended it too much. But, that was a good thing as I then got a longer wheel base and more leg room to the pedals which for me is a good thing. |

Thanks guys! I think I found a way similar to the crossmember repair thread. Cut out old crossmember. Weld in 2x6 tube. Cut off old shackle mounts. Re-weld onto 2x6 with gussets dropped down 3+" and then put 1-2" spacers between axle and frame mount out back. . I'm trying to maintain wheelbase length. Wider is ok just not longer. More of a street car setup. Also trying to use 10" wheels with most likely 215/40-10 tires. Got everything in garage except wheels/tires. Still on stockers.
If anyone sees an issue with this please let me know. Fabbing engine mount this coming week. Painted front and rear of frame today with my daughter. |

Re: Yamaha g2/9 swingarm drop for Predator 22hp
If you don't use the gen start you should have plenty of room to work with front to rear I'd think. You might fit the gen even. My clone block I ground one spot it was hitting the trans shifter rod under torque. I have a lot of room ahead of the engine. Its that far back in order to use the stock size belt and the gen is on the stock mount. Don't forget the engine moves upward when you hit a bump and compress the suspension, its a problem if you are close to the top tube under the seat. And remember it moves less as you go forward to the pivot mount of the cradle. There should be plenty of room to drop the mount lower in the cradle. You may have to mod the side tube to clear your clutch like they do on G1 swaps. You may have to mod the airbox on the engine, or remove and use a remote one, etc. Or do enough that you don't have to drop the cradle that much.
Ezgo can fit big street rims and low profile tires at stock height, 14" iirc. Seems like with some trimming you could iirc they must be around 20" height and I know a 20 lawn tire will fit a G9 stock. They look boss, I don't know about cost and your budget of course I mostly am into offroad carts. |

Sho305 can you link me or show pictures of tube mod for clutch? Also for the tire setup. I'm all over the tire/wheel thing right now, aiming for 10" wheel and around 20-21" tall street tread design.
The 780 clutch hasn't shown up yet and I have a stock belt already. I've factored in the compression of the suspension. Removed shocks to check for max compression for hitting. |

Tear down a couple weeks ago. I need to resize my pictures. This is the only one that would post. I've already prepped and re-painted the frame. It's going pretty good. Engine is still in the box waiting for mock up.
