I am running double wrapped springs in my 16hp. No shims. All the shims do is add more compression on the springs so they don't float at high RPM. I would guess your new springs are heavy duty with more compression.

Then don't use the shims. You could have passed on the high rev kit and bought the billet retainers, advanced flywheel key and the billet pushrods individually. Though I don't think CPP sells the billet retainers by themselves. E.C has them. The billet aluminum pushrods are a nice. They give you two for each cylinder. The rev kit only gives you one for each cylinder.

You do...most people would just install the rev kit which is perfectly fine but you went the extra mile and got the nice springs. So that right there is essentially part of a rev kit. No big deal. Did you start a build thread? I'd sure like to see your project.

Yep. No shims with heavier springs. Just the advance key, retainers, and push rods. I think the rev kit comes with two and there's two billet in the motor stock if I remember. Use all four of them. The retainer height can vary and change spring pressure. Have fun putting them on the heavy springs. I had to make a tool and use an arbor press at work to get mine on
