Default 1st Problem with clone - 6 months in...

Noticed today it would hesitate when taking off and miss for a second, higher RPM was fine. Got home, gas leaking from around the air filter somewhere. I also noticed my fuel filter had broken inside and gas could just go around it which leads me to believe it was getting too much fuel pressure as it did not have to go through the actual filter element anymore. Anyone ever seen this? Would this be a possible reason? It's always ran perfect and everything is new so this is all I can think of....

Too much head pressure. It is pushing the float off the seat and flooding the carb.

Replace with a better filter Like a Visufilter 8437-01-9909

Should be able to get them under $4 each. I have beat them to hell and back on bikes and carts and Atvs. Never had one break or come apart inside.

Thanks for the response fstg21, I had changed the filter right after my first post (filter is between tank and pump) and its still doing it. If I go for a long ride and then come back and let it sit, fuel will drain out of the carb to the bottom of the air filter box and then leak out the bottom. What could it be? It ran fine for 6 months, long hard days, and never did this. Could the float be stuck?? To reiterate, after a long ride and after sitting for a min it starts leaking, then quits.

Needle or float is sticking and causing it to flood. Pull it off and clean, may need a new needle or float.

Man, in just 6 months on a new motor? I have run Stabil and Seafoam in every single tank too! I had a credit with Vegas so I ordered their carburetor. Should I change the oil or be worried about gas filling up the crank case? Also, shoudl I install a return line to my tank anyway as a caution? If so, just a T anywhere between the pump and the carb that goes back to the gas tank?

Lawn mower carb with golf cart fuel pump = run a return line.

Alright, took the carb apart, cleaned the entire thing with carb cleaner and air compressor. Ran a return line to the tank as well. Lastly, pulled the plug and letting the crankcase drain overnight. Think that should solve it? I still have the Vegas carb coming - anyone know if that thing is jetted any differently? Also, I have their air box but am really not a fan as the motor revved up much easier with the filter off so I feel it's pretty restricting as well as the intake hangs low enough to collect mud/water. Any intake ideas?

The Vegas Carts carb is jetted a bit, and the venturi is larger I believe. You should run better with that carb. It's also adjustable.
