Default comet 780 clutch removal

Hi All, I've got a VC clone with what I think is a Comet 780 clutch that has been run for a year or so and I need to remove the clutch. Can anyone tell me how to do this? there are no threads on the inner sleeve of the clutch to use a puller. Tried prying but no go and I don't want to damage it. Any ideas?

Try to tap on the generator Pully with a bar an hammer maybe lightly with a rubber mallet on the outside clutch sheave
If you get it off put some antisieze on the shaft so it will come off easier next time
I had to do this on my vc 460 when the cheap cast starter Pully snapped

Also rotate the clutch as you tap on it

That's the reason I have to pull mine off. When the pulley broke it cut the belt which whipped up over the throttle cable which then pulled the throttle wide open, propelling my wife into the front end of a compact pickup truck. Luckily no one was hurt but had it happened in any one of several other places on her route to the beach she could been killed. By the way, the cart has the rear Ausco disks which didn't begin to stop it under power. I would recommend anyone having one of those cast pulleys to change it. Anyway, as to removing the clutch, I'm going to make a puller that bolts on with the three bolts on the front of the clutch.

Remove bolt, slide clutch off. It really shouldn't need a puller. Sounds like something is wedged? I suppose corrosion could cause it to stick. Spray some penetrating oil in there and see if it will loosen up over night. Rubber mallet love taps. Maybe some heat on the center crank shaft?

Man glad she's ok. That was a close one.

On my carts I always have some kind of ignition shut off for that very reason. On the clone I had a simple two way switch that would shut the ignition off any time you wanted. On my Vtwin I have an ignition switch. I suppose in this case there might not have been enough time to hit the switch? But just a thought any way. Glad no one was hurt.

Yes Slo, that was going to be my next question, how to wire a shut off switch. I haven't looked at it yet but I'm hoping there is an obvious wire to use as a ground. The clutch doesn't want to slide off, I did spray some WD in there and I'll try once more this morning to bump it off before I head to town to make a puller. Thanks everyone.

Sorry to hear about the accident.
Tell vc what happened and they should give you their new billet Pully or a discount on it.
Mine just broke in the woods, thank god no drama like that.
They gave me the new Pully for half price.
