Default belt too tight

did some upgrades to my vanny 18. carb, cam, 16 heads cut down, high torque starter. precedent so the motor sits reversed, starter to back of cart. had to shift motor 1" forward to clear the solenoid on the new starter. talked with fstg21 about his belt length calculator and had him do the math and he came up with 43.5" belt length. the belt is just a smidge too tight. i can shift sometimes but at idle i can hear it squeaking. its really **** close to perfect i think. my question is do i run it as is and let the belt wear some (will this even happen)? or start searching for a slightly bigger belt? ive even thought about grazing the belt with the engine running in neutral with an angle grinder

you could put a small shim in the driven clutch 1/16 aprox. that will loosen the belt.

My new belt did that for a month, then I helped a friend pull a trailer of stuff and of course mashed the gas. Quarter mile later I unhooked the trailer and belt worked fine.

Good Deal!! The belt and clutches both need a little break in time if new.
