Wiring help new Honda GX630
I really wish I would have found this site before buying "Big Block Kit" from Jakes. Terrible instructions , missing parts in kit, zero tech support. I need some help getting the motor running. I have no spark ,my manual shows black wire to coils from ignition.I have power to black wire, but no spark from plugs. Do I need 12v power to fuel solenoid? Do I need 12v power to oil level switch? I bout a marine ignition switch like someone recommended i the Honda wiring sticky thread. My wiring diagram is different than the one posted in the sticky. Ive tried to attach my wiring diagram. Mine is the lower right diagram. Thank You in Advance.

Re: Wiring help new Honda GX630
Oil and coils should be ground only when u shut the motor off and the fuel solenoid should have 12v only when key is on

Re: Wiring help new Honda GX630
I screwed up and hooked 12v to coils. Is there something I may have burned up? Fuse or diode? I thought my switch was bad when I check the the blk/yel wire and found it was ground. So I switched the coils to another wire that was hot

Re: Wiring help new Honda GX630
Most likely destroyed your coils. The black wire from the coils is to ground them and shut the engine down.

Re: Wiring help new Honda GX630
Yes all the magneto based coils work this way, you can tell because they run off a larger magnet on or in the flywheel that powers them. The doide keeps one coil from interfering with the other.
Your key should ground that wire to turn the engine off and do nothing with it to run. It should only have a hot wire to send power momentary to the starter only on 'start', unless it has an accessory connection it sends 12v to in that position. The oil switch usually taps into the coil kill wire and it grounds them in case of low oil, but I've not messed with a B&S one in long time. A kill switch works like the key, it just grounds the kill wire from the coil to the block to kill it. |

Re: Wiring help new Honda GX630
Disconnect the black wires on the coil and use the choke to kill it if it starts. Why are you grounding the oil sender unit? It grounds inside the engine to turn the dash light on if your low on oil.
