Default Primary for a Kohler Command 30

Who has had a Polaris or Arctic Cat clutch bored and broached?
Which clutch did you use ATV, UTV or snowmobile?
What springs and weights?
I would think that one of these would be far superior to a Comet when it come to setting it up, but then I have been wrong before.

Then what does a guy do about the secondary to use the wider belt?

I've been trying to search for any info and have come up empty. Other than this link. http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...e_team/faq.htm

Well, if a guy was going to go through all that work re-machining the Polaris or Arctic Cat drive clutch ---- I would be using the matched driven clutch from whatever machine your getting your parts from. Tuning it will be less of a problem. I was on Comets site today and the snowmobile type clutches just start turning on at 2650 rpm, How much work is involved in calibrating a drive clutch?

What about pulling the crank on your engine and having it machined to fit the clutch you use.

Seems far simpler to machine the clutch to fit the engine. Used sled clutch $75-$100 Crank for a 30hp Kohler?

What would the machine work cost to upgrade the clutch to a 1" bore?

This may not be safe. Is there enough material to maintain strength? Machining the crank shaft is the way to go.

I have a kohler command 18(20hp) like a few others here. I had my crank machined from 1 1/8 to 1" for the conet 780. I also got a kohler command 30hp i havent done anything with yet but i'll do the same, machine the crank to 1" probably.

But just to be sure check the HP rating on the conet 780. I dont know if its meant to handle 30hp
