Comet clutch
I am puting a 420cc clone in an ezgo I acquired. I planned on using the comet 780 clutch. I starting shopping and Googled it, long story short I ended up on ebay looking for a deal. I found one that looked similar being under $100 shipped I placed a bid and won. I can seem to find much info on it. The bore and key will work I'm more curious about the functionality of it. The numbers on it are 301793c. Does anyone have any history using this or know where I can get specs

Re: Comet clutch
Is this clutch used?
Under $100 shipped is a steal, I would buy more. Assuming it is genuine, you are the man. If it is a knock off, be careful and keep us informed of it's pros/cons. |

Re: Comet clutch
It said it was a new they got it in a box of parts with a cart. But when I search the numbers 301793c the only thing I saw said it was a 500 series clutch but then the image that shows up doesn't match the pic of what I bought.

Re: Comet clutch
I'm not sure if the one I bought is a 780. Does anyone know where I can look up the assembly number of mine. Also did anyone have to grind one side of there key for the crank down?

Re: Comet clutch
I believe you bought a 500 series. It's smaller. A 780 is a 302405a
Have seen a few of the knock offs, we call those boat anchors. They don't hold up. |

Re: Comet clutch
Ok so when I got home today it arrived, I quickly installed it and when I started the engine the clutch slammed closed. So I shut the engine of and it stayed shut. (Fully engaged ). So instead of shopping around I'll just order a 780 unless some has better advice. I'm in the process of puting hf predator 420cc in a 98 ezgo. Is the one that vegas carts sells worth getting. Anyone know if there's is tuned that much better?

Re: Comet clutch
You can probably just push it back by hand into the proper position.Really like my VC supplied 780.
