New BB kit backfires, how to stop?
Hello,
I just did a BB swap on my ezgo st express. I ran into 2 problems..the first was a govenor problem(which im working on) and posted in another thread. But as the title indicates, my other problem is that the cart backfires when i slow down/lay off throttle/or govenor kicks in slowing me down. How do i stop this? |

Make sure that the butterfly in the carb is closing all the way when the throttle is released.

For the best results you should have a return spring right on the carburetor pulling the butterfly closed. Disconnect all your linkage -- adjust your idle speed to where you want it. Hook up all your linkages and adjust them. Then if you still have the backfire issue -- adjust the mixture screw.
If the carburetor butterfly does not slam shut on deceleration and floats or bounces. This source of fuel could make it backfire. |
