Default New BB kit backfires, how to stop?

Hello,
I just did a BB swap on my ezgo st express. I ran into 2 problems..the first was a govenor problem(which im working on) and posted in another thread.

But as the title indicates, my other problem is that the cart backfires when i slow down/lay off throttle/or govenor kicks in slowing me down. How do i stop this?

There should be an air/fuel mixture screw on the carburetor. Look for a black plastic square cap. Once located, remove it and you should see a brass colors spring loaded screw (flat head). You will want to turn it counter clock wise in small increments (.250") at a time.

What kind of motor is it?

This is what "Test N' Tune" is all about!

Make sure that the butterfly in the carb is closing all the way when the throttle is released.

For the best results you should have a return spring right on the carburetor pulling the butterfly closed. Disconnect all your linkage -- adjust your idle speed to where you want it. Hook up all your linkages and adjust them. Then if you still have the backfire issue -- adjust the mixture screw.
If the carburetor butterfly does not slam shut on deceleration and floats or bounces. This source of fuel could make it backfire.
