Default Vangaurd after market cams

What can are you using and how do you like the power it makes?
I got my hands on a new 23hp motor and looking to make some power.

Cart currently has an 18hp motor with PVT cam two barrel carb cut and cleaned up heads basic mods rev kit, timing key.

Plans for the 23 is to install flat top pistons port and clean up the heads slap a new cam, rev kit, timing key in it.

Not bad what's the cheapest you've seen a 23 go for?

New $1000 plus shipping but not very often do you see them cheap. I have already pulled this motor down started working on the heads. Remove pistons from rods and will order new pistons this week. Progress in motion.

Was the 18 not enough? I ask because I was thinking of upgrading to an 18 from a 16.

I've got the kit from CCP, and was told the cam was either a Cheetah or a Bandolero. No other engine work except for the rev kit, and the setup works great. I had the cart at CAW when you were there...

Panteramatt 18 is fine I just wanted to try out the 23hp motor found one at a price I was willing to pay for it and am going to see how it preforms. as soon as I am done with this project I will be looking for another cart to put the 18hp in.
Dave I was trying to get ahold of 600 racing they do the Bandolero engines but no one picks up the phones I have heard some good things on that cam shaft and the Cheetah. And I remember your cart from CAW ride. Would love to go up for another ride it was a great event.

I always wondered what kind of deal this is. The Vegas 460 is a good deal if you want a built up clone but I never figured out what vanny parts cost to build a 23hp.

IMO the cam is the number one thing that will make you more power in these lawn engines. All the other stuff helps but the cam is the real business. Sure you need to put together a matched package (meaning a huge cam in stock engine is not ideal) but it changes how the whole engine runs unlike anything else.
