Default Magnum 44 clutch question

What's your opinions on where to let the belt ride on the drive clutch, as shown in the pics or should it be centered on the belt? Reason I ask is because when the clutch engages it pulls to one side. Opinions please I have the motor mount plate held onto my cradle with c clamps before I weld it in. So now is the time to either correct this or run it as is. What's the side effects of running the belt off center just more belt wear? Belt tightness is barely touching the drive clutch at idle so the belt slips at idle and engages when the clutch does

U want it centered on the drive clutch
It looks like the belt is way to lose or your driven clutch is not opening up post up some side pics of the belt at idle

The drive moves in from the outside, while the secondary moves out from the other side. As they move the belt should stay centered and just move over a little. The only issue is the 44 may be less diameter than a standard GC clutch but I don't recall how much or if it would matter. I think 94c is 7.25 diameter and most stock clutches are or similar.

I understand that.. as the photos show with the clutch disengaged it rides to one side.. when clutch is engaged it rides centered. I ran a laser from driven clutch to the drive clutch when engaged it's about as good as it gets alignment wise under power. This particular clutch seems to react a lot faster than my driven, and I believe that's some of the negative reaction. At idle speed around 700rpm the belt cruises back over to one side in a static position I think I'll run my set up as is for a bit and see if there is excessive belt wear who knows may be the nature of the beast and have a good belt life

The belt should be tight at top of secondary, and almost touching primary at bottom while at rest or at idle. It should be close to touching in the primary and not much room to move over. This could be the way the primary is, way its adjusted, the belt length or engine position making it too loose. Usually the primary has something like .010-.020 slack to side of belt before engagement, or something small like that, with a new belt proper size.

Otherwise yes it should be straight while the clutches are closed on the belt that is good.

Got it taken care of, I cleaned and lubed the driven clutch as I bought the axle assembly used. Took it for a test ride yesterday my 420cc predator is very snappy very torquey and I'd saftley say it does near 30 mph (still running a governor )

I would be interested in knowing what RPM your pulling on your governed 420 and what size tires you have that gives you 30mph??
