Default Predator 420 cc no spark help

Hey guys I drove my cart from one shed into another to do some welding on it. Went to start it and NOTHING. I went to the parts store today and got 2 spark plugs I think autolites NGK needed to be ordered, any ways I tried that and nothing. My motor has plenty of oil in it and is sitting level so I think I can factor out the low oil switch.. I have a starter and recoil on this motor does anyone know how I can bypass the key switch and circuit protector to see if I can achieve spark/ignition this way? Called harbor freights tech support was on hold for over 35 minutes before they answered looking for. Wiring diagram they said they have to contact to engine manufacturer overseas because it was proprietary to them so I'm dead in the water for a week. Could it be possible welding caused something to fry? Keybswitch so on so forth? I removed the shroud and recoil everything appeared to be clean and intact. This motor maybe has 1 hour of run time on it, purchased it new about 9 month ago no way of returning it now. Hopefully it can be fixed easily without dropping another 350$ on a motor. Also ordered a new coil from eBay today to see if it cures it for 16$ its worth a shot. Anyone know how to wire a standard key switch and bypass all the crap on the engine??

The clone has a magneto ignition system. The black wire shorts the coil to shut it down.So with all the wires disconnected it should start and run fine. You can then shut it off by grounding the black wire or choke off the air supply.

I'll disconnect all the wires and try the black wire coming from the coil to see if I have spark/ignition if I don't I guess it'd narrow it down to a coil and if it fires up I'll just ground that wire like you said. Thanks for the quick reply!

Gotta love it.. less than an hour on the motor from being new in box the coil is toast! Put the multimeter on it to test its throwin back 9.54 ohms should be between 2.5-5ohm. Good thing I ordered one Monday my assumption was correct

Did you learn anything from this experience? Welding on transistorized equipment can burn it up. Here is the schematic of a basic pointless ignition coil. There's more in there then a person could think. If you have to weld something on your cart -- keep the ground as close to the work as possible. You really should disconnect the battery. There's a lot of precautions that should be observed -- but most don't - won't or just don't care till there is a problem.

The strange thing is I've been doing it this way for years, battery was disconnected I have a grounding strap from the engine block mounted to the cradle I thought I was more than safe but clearly Not. Luckily it was a 16.50$ Mistake

As Exotic - I learned the hard way when I was young. After it happens more then once -- you learn what ya did wrong and you don't do it again. I've burned up more rectifiers on motorcycles welding on them then I care to say. I learned real quick welding on someone else bike and they come back with the dead battery syndrome.

It is a lesson I don't mind being spared but I will be much more careful in the future.
