Marathon Gear Ratio
Hey guys is there a number on the rear end gear box that will identify the gear ratio in the gear box? It's a 1993 Marathon Gas cart / rear end, I want to find out what it has or are they all a stock size gears? I've seen numbers on the forum, anywhere from 8:1 to 14:1.

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
Count how many times your clutch goes around for 1 revolution of the tire
Only jack up one side of the cart and put tape or a mark on the tire and clutch for easier reference |

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
Ex. If the clutch goes around 10.5 times to one tire revolution it would be 10.5 to 1

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
I just tried to turn it, it's seized up somewhere. I didn't plan for this, I guess the rear end has to come out so I can take it apart.

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
I wonder if it's a brake that's stuck, one side turns and the other side is froze up.

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
Most stock gas carts are around 13:1, only a few have HS gears that were customer ordered not golf carts but personal use carts (those are likely newer carts), or for meter readers and certain other use. HS gears are 8:1 and some carts you can get 6:1. Though on a yamaha the CVT will overdrive .9:1 for final gear of 11:1, maybe others also do that.

Re: Marathon Gear Ratio
I had some teeth missing on mine so I've ordered 8:1 gears. I hope I don't lose to much torque, I'm also putting a Predator 670 in it. Hopefully it will be a good fit. We'll see what happens, I don't have the formulas to figure out the loss of torque, when you go from 13:1 to 8:1.
