Default Argo clutch??

I got this clutch 3 years ago for my BB. I was told it was a CV Tech powerbloc 80. Works great but was just plain loud at idle. Sounded like a bucket full of bolts. So I finally decided to take it apart to see if something was wrong maybe causing the noise. Once apart I found 3 pucks or weight that were solid. I though my clutch was tunable but it was just a plastic basket with a solid weight. I googled a part number and it came up as going to an Argo 6x6 vehicle. So, anyone have an idea? I think it is built by CV Tech specifically for this vehicle only. That may be why it limited in I formation. I can get parts for it but there seems to be nothing broke at all that would cause the noise at low idle.

Wow, who sold you that thing, pb 80 supposed to have weights you can put washers in I read but never seen one. Maybe there is other adjustable weights you can get for it. One problem I had with PB is where do you get any parts for them, I don't know. I was looking at them but then a guy on here made me a great offer on a 94c. Its old and not as nice but have it working ok.

Is it noisy like the PB? I took mine apart, it is a PB 50 made for the Argo vehicle. It has solid weights as opposed to individual disc. I'm sure it can be converted. However it works great just flipping noisy as hell. So once apart I saw nothing broken and tried a few ideas that may stop rattling of the weights. Nothing work but strangely I noticed a bushing inside the spring cup that was moving up and down and wondered if this was a source of the rattling. I found a manual online and the clutch does not have this part anywhere and specifically not inside the spring and holder. It is possible that it was a belt bushing and somehow wore out of round into the spring? I not 100% sure but I'm going to remove it and try.
As for parts I found sources but haven't called yet. I should have more info this week.

I don't know, it may limit how far the clutch shifts or it may set it for a certain belt width. Figure out if the bushing/spacer hits at full shift or rest.

The 94 does not seem to make any more noise than the stock G9 did. Its a puck style clutch the plastic pucks slide out against the cover to shift it. The spring has pressure on them all the time so it does not rattle. But yes clutches can be really noisy. Check the center bushing it moves on see if it can be greased. That is how I could tell if my G9 clutch needed grease it would rattle a little. This 94 has a fiber bushing that is run dry they say, the G9 was bronze with seals on it. Have to be careful you don't get anything on the belt.

I think the PB is a dry clutch as I see nor read anywhere it needs greased. I did see a youtube of someone greasing bushings on a PB and wondered why. As for the bushing inside the spring the PB model diagram shows it as a limiter of how far the spring shifts but on the Argo diagram there is none to be found. I don't know why I have it but I'll remove it and see. Again the clutch performs great and I just want maybe a bit more engagement and lower rpm so a spring change or I think I can get heavier weights but I need to weigh mine first to see. The Argo weights cam stock at 240g each. I do not think the disc weights go that high...that may be why this clutch was set up for that type of vehicle as most of the PB seem to engage at a higher RPM than the Vanguard motors.

Silicone the weights into the plastic blocks. Had the same problem with one of mine.

Or you can raise the idle till it shuts up. I prefer a few dabs of silicone.

Silicone you can get back off. You can use urethane too it might not come back off and is similar to silicone.

You can run a weaker spring and less preload in the secondary to lower rpm. Many v twin swaps they use stock springs and say they work best (in secondary). They would run the lowest rpm with a given primary. When my secondary spring broke I lost preload, it dropped almost 500 rpm.

I got Plowmans machined sleeve and spring for the secondary. It works really good with this clutch. I'll go the silicone method and adjust idle a bit...
