Default Kohler CH740, please help me!

I have this Kohler engine that I would really like to put in my Workhorse, it has this really short tapered output shaft on the clutch side of the engine, so in my haste to make this work I tore the engine down to replace the crank with one that has a "1 inch X what ever I can get" output shaft that I can cut and re-tap to the correct length for the Workhorse clutch......Now the only cranks I can find have the correct configuration on the "PTO MTG end that I think is the side of the engine with the fan shroud. Do we have any Kohler experts that can help me with this? I just need a crank with a 1 inch diameter out put shaft so I can mount a clutch. Since I have this engine tore down I'm going to re-ring it, it looks like hardly no wear in the cylinders and real clean in the crankcase.

PTO end should be the shaft output not the flywheel/starter end. PTO typically counter clockwise rotation except for strange club car engines and some mitsubishi cars. You can run stuff off the flywheel on lawn engines, my whole mower runs off it on a 20hp, but its not the PTO end as typically defined. If you put a hub/pulley on the flywheel they call that a PTO you can use once it is installed (power take off). But the bare shaft is the normal PTO.

Well I have it completely tore down now trying to decide what to do with it. It needs a different crank and it has 1 burnt valve, and 1 missing coil, other than that the engine is in good shape, cylinders are not scarred, plastiguage the crank and it's near new specs so the rods are fine. So a slight hone, new rings, gasket set, a valve and a crank and I'll have 25/28 Horse power.

Yeah, that Kohler taper is huge, I'm going to get a new shaft and turn down the output to 1 inch and use the taper adapter from Carts Parts Plus. https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...clutch-adapter

My ezgo 94c primary is a 30mm taper like yamaha, but the backspacing is different its closer to the engine. G9 engine the crank is very short maybe ezgo is not. Took some work to get the setup right but its working mostly right on my clone now. Had to change spring and pucks a bunch of times. Still a little funny at low speeds great the rest of the time.

Sho, I'll have to probably rebuild the engine mount anyway because the Kohler is so tall so the clutch alignment will happen then.
