Arrow Comet 780 clutch repair

I got a comet 780 clutch from someone on here. It only has 10 hrs on it, but the rear, stationary sheath has come lose and needs fixed. I knew this when I bought it. Guess it came from vegas carts, not sure why it broke so quick but any ideas to fix?

Is that hub originally pressed in there? You could try to JB weld it in there but problem is if its off a little the clutch will be out of balance, out of round. You could have the alum welded back in and machine it back out right, and press it back together, if that is how it is supposed to go. Make sure you only use that repaired on something where nobody would get injured if it let go. I mean carts tend to be low rpm typically it would just fall off or come loose and stop, but it is a high speed part that spins whatever rpm your engine does.

Or that hub was cast into the alum, not sure how you replicate that maybe try to get another find a place or factory (comet, or is it a china one) see if you can buy that part of it, the fixed sheave. You could make a steel sheave to weld on it then finish machine it back down straight with the hub, but lot of messing around to do that.

My guess is they hit something with it, or it was defective.

Thinking of having both sides of the sheath tig welded back to the shaft

Drill 2 holes across from each other 90 deg. from the key slot. Half of the hole in the aluminum and half in the steel sleeve. Now press in dowel pins then tack weld the top of the pin to the steel sleeve.

Maybe after a complete tig weld on both sides I'll also do the pinning like you said. Also with it being welded so close to center, on the shaft, I don't think it would need machined to be balanced. Don't think it would be any issue.

I don't believe you are going to weld aluminum and steel together, assuming that is what the base metals are.
