Question Anyone out there make a 420cc clone...

Anyone out there make a 420cc clone throttle linkage kit? Looking everywhere for a nice basic kit and not finding anything. They have a nice simple on for the 212 but that's all I'm finding. Not looking to make my own as I've tried and can't get the throw that I'm after. Would the 212 kit work for the 420? Any help would be great. Thanks

That won't work for me. The governor is completely removed...

I made my own, all you need to do is take the governor arm and drill a line of holes for the rod to the carb. If you want the throttle cable to pull the opposite way you put the cable on the other end and the pivot mount bolt in the center. If you want it to pull the same direction you put it on the same side. The closer you are to the pivot the less travel it has, the further away the more travel. Make a line of holes and try different ones to narrow it down to what works best. Put a return spring on and you are done. I used a piece of 1/2x1/8 steel to make another one for the choke on my cart.

I've removed the governor in its entirety. Tapped the hole left, a.bolt lives there now. So I can't use that governor arm

I cut the arm off and used part of it.

I really appreciate you showing me that setup sho305. I just can't seem to get the right 'throw' so if I can toss $20 and have a kit then that'd be great. Just having trouble finding one for the 420

You have to think of the arm as ratio. If you have a hole 1" from the pivot and another hole 2" from the pivot....if you move the cable on hole one (1") then you know the cable on hole two will move twice as far. So you drill many holes about where you think, and find the right ones for the ratio you need. You can measure your cables (the throttle cable, and the carb rod) and if one moves 150% as far as the other, then you make your holes 100 and 150% from the pivot. The same distance- the other side of the pivot will move the same distance just opposite direction. Now if you swing your arm too far you mess it up, because it moves in an arc, and when you swing it far it starts to go around in a circle. Then you need a longer arm to do what you are doing. In fact I held the end of the cable on the arm and moved my pedal, then held the carb rod, and just drilled a line of holes where I thought it looked good.

You can search around here in clones, I have seen posts with throttle photos of different ways people did it. I don't know who has a kit other than VC, nobody else really does this stuff. Maybe gokart stuff you might find something.
