Default 35hp vanguard?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done a build with the bigger sized vanguard engines, in talking the 25, 27, or anything bigger in a cart. What all does it need to make it happen? How much space do they need, what clutch and header to use? Any photos? Be interested to see if it has been done.

I can't recall seeing any. IIRC they are tall, maybe too tall. Anybody else remember??

Well if you did the jakes LT which gives you 9" and drop the swing arm like 5-6" would it be enough?

I don't know. Google up the dimensions on one. Where there's a will there's always a way, but you might be dragging the ground with the bottom of the engine cradle to drop it enough. Or some some **** tall tires.....

Alright, you got me curious. 35hp Vanguard is 28.5" tall and 160 #'s without a muffler. Compared to the 23hp which is 17.5" tall and 92 #'s. You can build the 23 for all the torque you could want, and also for speed. Trust me, 45-50 mph on an 8-10" lift will make you build a full roll cage and install 4 point harness's. Or sell the cart

Let me back up a second. You don't gain additional clearance in the engine bay with a lift. The only way to do that is to drop the engine cradle and/or the swing arm. Or raise the seat up, but don't think I've seen that done.... Lot's of people cut and lower the the sub-frame, mainly to level the engine out but also gains a little clearance, however much you lower it but normally only 2-3 inches, otherwise you're back to the engine being way out of level. If you run a big primary clutch you end up either notching the frame out or raising the engine cradle back up again to clear the frame. So, an extra 10" of height on an engine is difficult to overcome, but I will watch with interest if you build one!

May need to make it a "2" seater and strictly use the "2nd" row as an engine bay
