Stage 2
So last night we had a showdown,23 vanny against a vc 460 with all the mods,....
Off the line, I got my as$ kicked, By the time I caught up I was out of road, As I was pulling a wheelie , he was driving off and I was playing catch up. His motor was running close to 6 grand on the tach, while mine was only running 4 grand. This is the second V-Twin Vanny that I have owned, all the same bells and whistles cam,rev kit..... The first engine I got ran ,5500 RPMs, and this one only 4000 rpms. Same motor from the same place built by the same people. My mentor, has since passed on. So I can't actually ask him what I need to do? Can the v-twins take 5000 RPMs with the Cam and rev kit? Is there something with the governor which I don't believe there is one on this, that I can do to bump this thing up a thousand RPMs? Also is there something I can do to get it to rap up faster. First time this cart has been beat, in my neighborhood Step up to the plate Vanny owners, and help me take this thing to the next level........ |

Re: Stage 2
If it came from CPP it does not have a governor, factory delete. You are supposed to use the governor on the rear end. I don't use any governor, pedal cable goes to carb. Yes you can run 5K rpm with your mods. You may need a cable adjustment.

Re: Stage 2
With 6:1 gears I am not sure that reving higher is your answer against that specific cart. Sounds like he just out accelerated you.
I am going to guess his cart had the ~12:1 gears. Are your clutches shifting properly? Maybe a little tuning can improve performance? Sounds like you are describing CPP. I believe his name is Bruce , but he can help you out. |

Re: Stage 2
You are definitely under geared with a 25 inch tall tire and 6:1 gear ratio it is going to kill the take off power and cut back on the RPM do to engine load up top. But you should have good top end speed.

Re: Stage 2
Of course the motor came from CPP, I really wanted to see you if bgw could help me before I called up Bruce. I just bought a 780 recently, and spoke with Bruce.
He he seems nice and knowledgeable, Tom was special, he understood my shortcomings, and had a way of explaining things that even is slow person could understand. Which is why I now look to bgw, hoping to gain some knowledge, and some insight. 4000 rpms just does not seem right for a with Cam, High Rev, key Cable adjustment. Max out already..... Beater, had the same setup with the last engine I had, 5600 RPMs baby! With no fuss... Pouting .....I must be missing something clutches are in great shape at brand new, engine tuned up, runs sweet fires up on the first lick, doesn't miss a lick runs good, but does not tach up. Also when I put the 6:1 gears in I removed the governor from the axle. |
