Default How to reduce takeoff speed

So this is backwards from most questions on here, especially for those of us with big blocks. I have gone through a few hubs in the past six months. I've also snapped an axle. I think the axle has to do with the 4" rear spacers so those are being removed and will just go with a bit narrower rear than the front.

I know stripped hubs are common but I can't keep changing them every other month. So I'm thinking my Honda big block is making too much torque on takeoff that is stripping them even more than usual. Is there an easy way, without getting into changing gears and all that good stuff, to reduce the hard lunging or torque on takeoff? Maybe I'm crazy but I'd like it to ease into takeoff similar to the stock gas engines. I love my top speed though so swapping for a stock engine not an option. Thanks!

OK now for the serious stuff. What kind of clutch are you running? Sounds like you could lower the engagement rpm so your not so far into the power band. Does it engage at a high rpm level? I think sooner engagement may help the problem.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about clutches and the engine side of things. I had aspirations of buying a stock cart and learning as I went along turning it into the cart I wanted. That all changed when the cart I wanted came up for sale at a fantastic price with everything already done to it. Here's a pic that might help to show what I'm running?

From your pictures you need to adjust the belt so it has about 1.5 inches of up/down play.

Hmmm...ok. I'll make some adjustments and see how it works. That is, after the new axle gets here and I get it installed.

You need to get her, her own machine. BAN her -- not unless you can sleep with one eye open. lol

I already got her her own machine. It's green and yellow and has a 42" cut. [emoji23]

Ok so just to be clear on the belt tension, right now I can pinch the top and bottom of the belt together and touch. You're saying I need to tighten the belt, correct? Again, unfortunately I'm pretty familiar with the drums and axle on this cart but haven't touched the clutch or belt. Out of fear of messing something up, is there a simple bolt somewhere on these to adjust tension?
