Default Vanguard 16hp vs 22 predator

New to this forum, I have been reading the posts and learned a lot. I have a 2002 EZGO with a 4" lift. The Robin is getting tired and ready for replacement. I really want torque for driving up the toyhauler ramp and going up hills with 4 200lb guys, no need for much top speed improvement. For this I have decided to go the V-Twin route.

I have two options, a used 16hp vanguard for $400 (low hours) or the new Predator 22hp. I am interested in opinions on these options. I sounds like the Vanguard may be more reliable? But am I leaving to much on the table with a 16 hp vs 22 hp for really close money?

To my knowledge, there are no upgrades available for the Predator. I guess it would be OK if you didn't need more than the governed RPMs.

Many parts available for the Vanguard. Rev kits, cams, 2bbl carb and manifold, etc.

Either will work fine and have more power than stock cart did. I would get the 22hp but that is just me. It seems well built but there are not performance parts out for it yet, while you can get things for the vanguards to make them rev high, cams, lots of things. The predator will go up to 4K a guy on youtube dynoed one on a gokart. If you don't care about speed it should have lots of power otherwise. You may have to richen up the carb some as with most of these engines. A vanny will run over 5K with a rev kit so that makes your top speed higher. Rev kit only 100 and some dollars last I looked. Lot more people work with vannys so if you plan to do anything with it you can get more help, more parts, etc. Advantage with the 22hp is its new, more torque.

Vannys are a very good and well tested engine for sure. But for the money new is nice also and I see that VEGAS CARTS which is a site sponsor has kits for them and a couple of upgrades now.
