Default Importance of Disc Brakes

I have my cc 95% complete and have been ripping around the neighborhood with a big smile. And as the cart breaks-in and gets faster I am stopping slower and slower.
I drove around for 20-30 min today and by the end the brakes had faded pretty bad. I decided to pull the drum and check the shoes when I got back and oh boy was stuff HOT!
Does anyone else run a bb without front disc brakes? I am beginning to realize they are more of a necessity than a luxury.

It is only logical - if you go faster then you have to stop faster. The brakes are designed for a 12-15 mph vehicle - driven on a grassy lawn. I don't like my brakes or the way they stop my ride. I'm reworking my whole brake system to 4 wheel disc brakes. All Willwood calipers - the rear with a parking brake. The SC1 models are the calipers that come in a Jake's Brake kits.

Keep me informed, i tried the ausco rear disc brakes, and they worked great on a paved road, But as soon as you hit dirt or sand they go, and fast. After one hunting trip, the pads were gone, 50$ to replace. That gets expensive every time you go play, it got so costly I went back to drum brakes.
My cart moves on down the road too at a pretty fast clip.
So I am eager to see your set up, in detail .....

I went through my stock brakes and they work really well now, but I don't road ride I don't run top speeds much. Usually 30 max in normal riding and offroad most of the time I just let off and it slows down pretty fast. So I only use brakes under 20 or so most of the time. That said I think front disks are the way to go and I'd like to get a front off an atv and do it all at once.
