Default G16 big block build

Starting on a G16 build, just saw harbor freight has 22hp predator on sale, was going to go with a Vegas carts set up , but now wondering if this will work and is there an install kit anywhere or do I fabricate it? By the way this is my first total build.. Thanks

Check the height of the HF 22 and compare to the Vanguard or the Vegas engine. It's been done, but the engine is tall.

The HF Vtwin is very large.. WE had issues getting the clutches to align. Could not slide the motor over far enough.. Then again.. anything is possible with enough effort and resources.

I seen one done on a G2 where the guy took the gas tank off and had clearance, I think I am more concerned about being a harbor freight motor, probably going to go with Vegas carts or vanguard, think I am better off to spend the money

I would suggest NOT using the Predator engine. There are no real after market parts needed to make it a higher rpm engine. I believe VC makes a header for it and thats about all I've heard of. I know you would be happy with the Vegas Carts engine, there's a ton of parts for that style engine. I have 2 of them and for the money you can not build a better engine. I don't have any real experience with the Briggs engines. I know there large and have a different torque pattern from the single. Lots of parts for them also. I think in the long run you would be very disappointed with the HF engine. Remember -- hind sight is 20-20

So I just finished a Predator 670 swap in a G2. Overall I am very happy with the conversion. Cart runs 23 MPH on GPS in any direction. It did take some major modifications to both the cart swingarm (cutting/welding) and the airbox of the engine to make it all work but for $549 I couldn't pass it up. If for some reason the engine craps out, I have all the frame modifications completed and will probably go the diesel route.

Many people have complained that the engine is impossible to set up/tune and idle. - It is set up very poorly from the factory. I had to tighten all of the linkage/gov. springs in addition to tuning the carb. Once I did that, it idles perfectly and is smooth throughout the powerband.

I found the "pulsar" hose "and some kind of filter" kinked so badly on it, I threw it away and just used a section of hose. Ran a lot better then. I will agree, it's not a a Briggs capable of up grades.
