Default 1995 Yahama G9 Gas with a 7:1

Does this sound right for this cart to have this kind of gears for a gas cart ??

no not right, I came up with the same thing and someone had to explain it to me, I think it was sho305 yep it was him, here's what he told me..

"Stock gearing in them is about 13:1 ratio. If you rotate one tire and not the other you spin the diff twice as fast so it should be near 6.5 turns on the primary. But when you drive it the CVT overdrives 10% so the end ratio is about 11:1."

"If you turned both tires like a posi would then you would get the 13, but the diff will make one tire go twice as fast if the other one is locked. Its kind of strange if you don't deal with them much."

If it has HS gears that is 8:1, it would go around 30mph on stock 18 tires, stock engine governor gone or cranked way up. Its roughly the same as 22 tires with stock 13:1 gears they go about 30mph no governor and 27 max governor speed...for a G9. If you lifted one tire and turned it you would get 4 turns at secondary with 8:1 gears.

Thank You Sho305, I check this thing three times and came up with 7:1. I even searched the internet and didn't come up with 7:1. Thanks

Looks like there are 7:1 gears then! Most places only have 8:1 and some 6:1.
